Fairywill Sonic Toothbrush Performance

The Fairywill 507 is a powerful oral care product that offers thorough cleaning of the teeth and gums. It cleans the better much better than a manual or regular electric toothbrush. This model features a 2-minute timer and a 30-second pacer that allows you to get the best clean. When used properly, this brush can remove plaque up to 99%. It can also get rid of stains in just a week of regular brushing.

The Fairywill 507 features five different cleaning modes that offer you different cleaning options for your preferred cleaning action. It performs all of these functions with the aid of a powerful battery that can hold a four-hour charge for up to 30 days of regular brushing.

How Does The Fairywill Sonic Toothbrush Work?

The Fairywill 507 uses a powerful ultrasonic technology to clean the teeth and gums. The vibrations offer a month’s worth of manual brush strokes in only two minutes, guaranteeing improved oral hygiene. The sonic cleaning whips up the applied toothpaste into microbubbles, driving them deep along the gum line and between the teeth for effective cleaning.

This toothbrush features brush heads with W Tooth-Waved bristles, made with Dupont nylon, to suit the teeth topography for thorough and effective cleaning of gums and hard-to-reach areas.

Design And Accessories

The Fairywill 507 sonic toothbrush comes in a simple, less appealing cardboard box. The box is not as bulky as some brush boxes you might have come across. The brush handle, brush heads, charging cable, and documentation are neatly arranged inside the cardboard box. The handle and each of the individual brush heads are wrapped in plastic material.

The perfect handle of the Fairywill

When you handle the Fairywill 507, the first thing you notice is its lightness. Most of the brush’s weight is at the handle’s bottom, which helps keep the unit balanced when placed upright. The variant in this Fairywill sonic toothbrush review has an attractive black handle. The brush heads are color-matched, meaning they are also black.

The FW-507 is mainly made of plastic. While the handle feels robust in the hand, you won’t get that premium feel that some high-end toothbrushes will give you. But it won’t be fair to say this model feels cheap simply because of its lower appeal, it just doesn’t offer the same feeling you get from some other toothbrushes.

The plastic on the unit has a matte finish, meaning it’s not slippery or glossy which is a good thing because rubber grips that may enhance the grip in the hand are lacking.

The toothbrush handle’s front has a Fairywill logo at the top. The logo is white to make it distinct and visible. Beneath this logo is the power button that’s used to turn the device on and off. The button also allows you to switch between the different cleaning modes. The button has a power icon imprinted on it. It’s not too resistive or clicky, it just works fine.

A rounded rectangle panel with a number of icons is below the brush handle. Five of the icons represent the cleaning modes while the sixth icon represents charging. Each of the icons appears whitish and has a text beneath it that reads the functions. The order of the icons is as follows:

  • White
  • Clean
  • Sensitive
  • Polish
  • Massage
  • Charge

Unlike the little gap between the cleaning mode icons, the massage icon and charge icon have a larger gap between them. This extra gap is to show their functions are essentially different. The cleaning mode icons lit blue color when selected to help you track the more you’re using. As another mark of difference, the charging icon doesn’t light up the blue color, it lights up or blinks red depending on its status.

Charging the sonic toothbrush

The back and sides of the FW-507 are smooth to the touch and free of notable details. The brush’s 3.5mm charging port is located in the center of the brush’s base. You can connect the USB charging cable to the charging port. The electronics and battery are designed to be irremovable. Although Fairywill suggests this device is waterproof and safe for use in the shower, the manufacturer advises that it is not soaked in water.

When the brush head is removed, you will see a white plastic shaft that extends from the brush’s top. This shaft feeds into the electronics and motor sealed inside the brush’s handle. The brush head connects to the shaft to operate and deliver the cleaning action you want.

Brush heads

As we have mentioned, the FW-507 comes with four brush heads; one CrossAction brush head and three replacement heads. The bristles on the heads are made of Dupont nylon and are cut in a way that the head possesses a ‘W’ shape when looked at from the side. The brush heads will remind you to replace them at the right time through the blue indicator bristles. The bristles fade in color to alert you that it’s time to change the brush head to a new one. Ultimately, you should replace your brush heads every three months as recommended by dentists to continue getting effective results. You can buy the replacements for these brush heads. We’ll discuss the compatible replacements later in this Fairywill sonic toothbrush review.

Brushing technique of the FW-507

The FW-507 features a sonic motor that is built into the handle. Having a sonic motor means it cleans the teeth the same way a Philips Sonicare toothbrush does and it doesn’t provide oscillating-rotating action like an Oral-B toothbrush. This powerful motor delivers up to 40,000 brush strokes per minute, representing a very impressive cleaning action.

It’s not clear how many strokes the motor delivers for every cleaning mode but we can surely say that each of the five modes is programmed separately. This means they use less or more power of the motor to deliver a different cleaning action. The white mode is the most powerful and you can expect 40,000 brush strokes per minute from it. The sensitive mode is the most gentle and you can certainly say the brush strokes delivered are lesser.

Cleaning Modes

The overall cleaning performance of the FW-507 more than satisfied us during our testing process. While it didn’t give the same clean feeling we got from Sonicare and Oral-B, the toothbrush gets the job done daily and you can count on it to serve for a long time.

The five cleaning modes don’t necessarily produce different results but we do advise that if you’re a first-time user, you consider using the sensitive mode because it offers less power and gentle cleaning. With time, after you’ve gotten used to the power of an electric toothbrush, you can graduate to the regular clean mode.

The power button controls these cleaning modes. You turn the device on by pressing the power button, then press again to begin cycling through the different modes. You can keep pressing the button until your preferred mode is selected. As mentioned earlier, the icon of the selected mode lits blue color. After selecting the massage mode, the last mode, another push of the power button turns the device off. You can also switch the brush off by pressing and holding the power button at any time.

When you turn the Fairywill 507 on, it goes back to the cleaning mode you last used. This function is a helpful one as it saves you the time/stress of cycling through the modes each time to use your preferred mode.

Each mode cleans for two minutes after which the toothbrush turns off. This function is to help you brush for only the two minutes recommended by dental professionals. You will need to turn the brush back on if you desire to brush for a longer period. The timer and pacer are two features associated with this function. The timer tracks the brushing time and ends the cycle after two minutes. On the other hand, the pacer pauses slightly every 30 seconds to tell you to clean a different quadrant. The quadrants are determined by breaking up the mouth into four sections: upper left, upper right, lower left, and lower right. This move helps to achieve a more thorough and complete clean. Both the timer and pacer are activated by default on all cleaning modes.

No Pressure sensor

A major disappointment for us is the absence of a pressure sensor. A manual toothbrush requires scrubbing with force to get an adequate clean but an electric toothbrush does the movements automatically and doesn’t need applying too much force. Indiscriminate scrubbing can cause your teeth and gums problems. In high-end toothbrushes, a pressure sensor helps prevent using too much pressure to brush. But the Fairywill 507 lacks this feature which might not sit well with some people. If you’re going for this model, you should know that you don’t need to brush hard to get a good clean, all you need is the bristles skimming the teeth’s surfaces. (here you find electric toothbrushes with pressure sensor)

Fairywill for traveling

If you’re a frequent traveler, the absence of a travel case might will need to find an alternative case to keep your toothbrush when traveling. But you can get this accessory from other variants of the Fairywill 570. As pointed out earlier in this Fairywill sonic toothbrush review, the FW-507Black+420 and the FW-507+420+8 come with a travel case.

Overall, the FW-507 offers impressive functions and value for its price and you can confidently invest in it.

Which Brush Heads Are Compatible?

The Fairywill 507 comes with four brush heads. If you use one brush head for three months as recommended by dental professionals, the four brush heads will be enough for a year. Of course, you’ll need replacement brush heads after a year. So what are the replacement brush heads compatible with the FW-507? Most of the Fairywill brush heads are compatible with this model, and you can easily acquire them from the stores.

Key Features Explained

The Fairywill 507 boasts several important features that help if deliver great performance daily. Below, we will discuss five of the most important features extensively:

Ultimate Power

The beauty of an electric toothbrush is its ability to power through the surfaces of the teeth and clean them thoroughly. The power is supplied by a motor. The motor in the FW-507 uses ultrasonic technology to deliver thorough and comprehensive cleaning, thereby improving your oral health significantly. This toothbrush’s head generates up to 40,000 brush strokes per minute, dislodging plaque bacteria and stains with relative ease.

The Fairywill 507 toothbrush’s power removes up to 100% stains and plaque compared to a regular manual toothbrush. This model gives you the chance to enjoy clean and healthy teeth and gums in only 14 days of regular use. At a relatively cheap price, this product impresses and offers your oral hygiene a great upgrade.

Battery Life

Electric toothbrushes use built-in batteries to power the bristles for the desired cleaning actions. The strength of these batteries varies depending on brands and models. While some batteries last up to a week of regular use, others last up to three weeks. Many users favor toothbrushes that can offer at least two weeks of regular use before there’s a need to recharge. This is quite understandable, especially for frequent travelers who don’t want to worry about charging their toothbrushes while away from home.

The good news is that the Fairywill 507 toothbrush has got you covered with a long-lasting battery that offers up to an incredible 30 days of use on a single charge. This is particularly impressive if you consider the fact that industry leaders such as Oral-B offers between one and two weeks of use while Sonicare offers between two and four weeks of use. This incredible battery life makes the Fairywill 507 the perfect travel companion.

While the manufacturer suggests that the FW-507’s built-in lithium-ion battery lasts a minimum of 60 brushing sessions (2 minutes per session), our hands-on testing reveals a full charge supports more brushing sessions. This is a very impressive and attractive feature.

The Fairywill 507’s charging mode further cements the toothbrush’s place as a perfect travel companion. Unlike many toothbrushes that require a charging stand to recharge their batteries, the FW-507 offers you the luxury of recharging with a USB cable provided in the box. You can easily take the cable along with you on extended trips and recharge your device. You can also easily charge your toothbrush through the USB ports on a power bank, or computer/laptop if required. For us, the only negative of this charging mode is that the cable can be easily misplaced.

The battery completes charging after four hours. The toothbrush has a low battery alert that tells you when it’s time to recharge the device and it also shuts off automatically after being fully charged. The Fairywill 507 is compatible with all chargers and devices with a USB port.

Modes

Part of the benefits of buying high-quality electric toothbrushes is that these brushes offer different cleaning intensities from which you can choose the most suitable for your teeth and gums. Some electric toothbrushes offer only one mode, which can be bad for a first-time user. Other toothbrushes offer multiple modes, including the sensitive mode which offers gentle cleaning.

Thankfully, the Fairywill 507 is one of the toothbrushes that offer multiple modes. It boasts five different cleaning modes that can help a first-time user transit into the world of an electric toothbrush. As we explained above, there’s a button on the toothbrush which you can use to switch between modes. The modes include White Clean, Polish, Massage, and Sensitive. From them, you can choose the one mode appropriate for your teeth and gums to address a specific issue, such as sensitive teeth, gum care, and daily use.

  • White: this is the strongest mode. It works hard to remove stubborn plaque and stains.
  • Clean: this is the medium mode. It delivers regular cleaning for daily use and leaves the mouth feeling very clean.
  • Sensitive: this mode is mainly designed for sensitive teeth and gums because of its gentle cleaning action. It is also suitable for kids who can’t handle the vibrations of higher intensities.
  • Polish: this mode is designed to whiten your front teeth and give you a confident smile.
  • Massage: this mode is specially designed to care for the gums. As its name suggests, it massages the gum while giving it a proper cleaning.

Time And Pacer

Dental professionals recommend that you brush your teeth and gums for two minutes twice daily. Tracking the time can be a bit difficult but the top electric toothbrushes come with a timer to help out. Thankfully, this feature is present in the Fairywill 507 toothbrush. The timer alerts you after two minutes of brushing, making you get the desired results. Apart from the timer, there’s a pacer that buzzes every 30 seconds. This pacer helps you clean each quadrant of your teeth, side to side, equally for two minutes. Thanks to the timer and pacer, you can be able to get the proper clean that guarantees effective results.

The Fairywill Sonic Toothbrush is Waterproof

The top electric toothbrushes are waterproof because they consider the possibility of water running into the handle. Let’s face it, it’s nearly impossible to brush your mouth without some liquid running down the body of the toothbrush. The Fairywill 507 prepares well for this possibility with its IPX7 waterproof design. This means you can use it in the shower or bathtub without any fear of subjecting it to damage. You can also safely rinse it with water. However, we advise that you do not immerse the toothbrush in water to ensure you don’t expose it to an avoidable risk.

Installation Of The Product

The Fairywill 507 possesses a small locking mechanism that requires you to turn the head. This is unlike the Oral-B and Sonicare toothbrushes where you can push the head straight on and off.

The FW-507 has a white plastic shaft that extends from the brush’s top when the brush head is removed. The brush head connects to this shaft to operate. To install the brush head, you need to place it so it is turned about 45 degrees off the center, to the right. Once you push the head as far down as it can go, twist it from right to left by about 45 degrees and it will lock into place. You can remove the brush head by reversing this process.

Settings

Fairywill does not have any companion mobile app, so there’s not a lot of settings to deal with except on the toothbrush. As mentioned before, operating the Fairywill 507 is pretty simple. It has a power button that turns the device on and off. The button also switches between the five brushing modes. A single press turns the device on and you can keep on pressing the button to change modes. There’s an icon on the handle that shows the mode you’re on. After the last mode, the device turns off. You can also turn the brush off by pressing and holding the power button for a few seconds.

How Does The Fairywill Sonic Toothbrush Compare To Other Products?

The Fairywill 507 is a pretty impressive toothbrush that delivers value for the money. But how does it compare to other products in its price categories and more premium models? The Fairywill 507 has five brushing modes but the Oral-B Pro 1000 has one, the Fairywill P11 Plus has three, while the Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 5100 has three. The Fairywill P11 Plus and Oral-B Pro 1000 come with a travel case but the Fairywill 507 does not. Also, the Fairywill 507 offers 30-day battery life, but the Oral-B Pro 1000 and Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 5100 have shorter battery life. Below, we will do a side by side comparison of the toothbrushes:

Short Term Use Of The Product

  1. Using the Fairywill 507 is a quite seamless process.
  2. You need to apply the right amount of toothpaste to the brush and spread the past around your teeth.
  3. You can then select your preferred cleaning mode to start brushing your teeth.
  4. Use the timer to optimize your brushing session.
  5. Also, ensure that you do not miss any parts of your mouth by using the pacer correctly. When the pacer alert goes off, you should proceed to the next quadrant of your mouth.
  6. After you have completed two minutes of brushing, rinse your mouth and complete your dental cleaning routine.

Long Term Use Of The Product

Most buyers look out for a product that can serve them in the long term, so they can get good value for their money. The sentiment applies when buying an electric toothbrush, which is typically expensive compared to a manual toothbrush. You don’t want a brand that will make you lose your money. Luckily, Fairywill has built a fairly good reputation for support and service.

The FW-507 is crafted from cost-effective plastic materials and it appears solid without any obvious break in the plastic body or a weak-looking seal. The charging port, however, provides the recipe for disaster. The port, located on the base of the toothbrush, is susceptible to damage by water. If by any chance the brush sits in water, the charging port could be damaged. While that is not a regular occurrence with this brush, there’s a possibility of it happening.

Although the Fairywill 507 looks like a reliable product that can be counted on, you can’t say what will happen to electrical devices in the next minute. The one-year warranty takes care of this concern. If the toothbrush develops a fault during the timeframe, you are bound to get a replacement.

There’s the disappointment that the warranty is not up to two years as typical with top brands. However, you can get closer to having two years warranty by registering the device online. When you register the product online, you get to extend the warranty by 6 months, making a total of an 18-month warranty.

Caring For Your Fairywill Sonic Toothbrush

As said before, the Fairywill 507 is a pretty reliable electric toothbrush. But things can quickly go wrong if care is not taken. The toothbrush requires proper care to ensure it serves you for a long time as desired. Remember it is an electrical device, you need to prevent it from dropping as much as you can. You should acquire a reliable case to place it after every use, so it can be kept face.

Although Fairywill claims the FW-507 is waterproof and can be used in the shower, we advise that you do not immerse it in water because such action could lead to damage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Fairywill toothbrushes any good?

Fairywill toothbrushes are best known for their affordability. Most often, manufacturers sacrifice quality for affordability but that’s not the case with Fairywill. The toothbrush maker strikes the balance well by manufacturing a relatively cheap and high-quality brush.

Fairywill toothbrushes are quite good, even when compared with more expensive brands. They have the necessary features such as a timer, pacer, long battery life, powerful motor, and waterproof. These features combine to deliver top performance and ensure improved oral health.

Which Fairywill toothbrush is best?

Fairywill has a good number of toothbrushes that you can count on their great quality to deliver. But they differ in strength and functions. The best performing Fairywill toothbrush is the Fairywill P11 Plus toothbrush. The brush’s performance is driven by a maglev motor, which ensures that it cleans well but with a gentler sensation. This motor also delivers up to 62,000 brush strokes per minute. Unlike the FW-507 and other Fairywill toothbrushes, the P11 Plus adopts a quick charge technology that delivers a full charge in only two hours. This charge supports up to 30 days of regular use. The FW-507 also comes with a travel case that makes it the ideal travel toothbrush.

Is Fairywill, Sonicare, or Oral B better?

The Fairywill, Sonicare, and Oral-B toothbrushes all have their separate positives and negatives. For instance, the Sonicare offers the most features out of the three while the Fairywill offers the best battery life. Many consider the Oral-B as the best performing. These peculiarities make it difficult to choose which is better. You’ll have to make a choice based on your needs or preferences. For instance, if you need a toothbrush with long battery life, Fairywill is for you. But if you want one with plenty of features, you will have to go with the Sonicare. If you are much concerned with performance, you’ll need to choose the Oral-B.

What is the best affordable electric toothbrush?

The best affordable electric toothbrush is simply a product that doesn’t compromise quality to be cheaper. If a cheap electric toothbrush lacks basic features such as a timer, pacer, and waterproof design, it can’t be called the best because it has compromised on quality. Considering all the necessary metrics, the Fairywill 507 appears to be the best affordable electric toothbrush. It boasts several features you will find on high-end toothbrushes and manages to be cheaper.

Final Verdict

The quality of oral care products matters a lot if the goal is improved oral care. But the quality must not be overpriced so the buyer can get great value for their money. The Fairywill 507 is a great blend of quality and affordability. While offering great functions, it’s relatively cheap. The Fairywill sonic toothbrush review carefully dissected and revealed everything you need to know about this impressive oral care product. Keep on smiling!
